A Fleeting Farewell: The Outlook in Autumn

The farm is now closed to visitors in 2023, but there’s much more to come from Hitchin Lavender over the winter!

As the last of our guests, laden with Halloween pumpkins, left the farm on Sunday, our 2023 season came to an end. The farm is now closed to visitors for the winter months, and will open again in the early summer of 2024. We’ll announce a specific opening date a little closer to the time.

We would like to say a huge ‘Thank you!’ to everyone who visited us this year, and who helped to bring colour and life to our little slice of countryside paradise. We are also immensely grateful to our fabulous team of staff, whose commitment and hard work throughout the summer helped us to deliver a great season of lavender and pumpkin picking.

Although the farm is now closed to visitors, we at Hitchin Lavender will still be busy as bees over the winter months…

Our online store remains open

The Lavender Barn has closed its doors for the time being, but our super range of farm produce will remain available to order online throughout the year.

Whether you’re shopping for a special occasion or a regular self-care routine, our selection of wellbeing products, culinary delights, and homely gifts will have you covered.

Keep your eyes peeled for more blog posts in the coming weeks, where we’ll talk through our range in more detail and suggest ways in which you can bring a hint of Hitchin Lavender home with you.

Waste not, want not!

Although most of our pumpkins go into our guests’ Halloween celebrations, there are always a few left over from the patch that need a home. We’re always happy to pass on our gourds to local farmers, who put them to use as future fertiliser, or even treats for animals!

Thanks to Stephanie Howe, who sent us these pictures of her pigs Sid and Flo, contentedly chowing down on this year’s leftovers.

Keep in touch

For the latest updates from the farm, you can keep in touch with us on Instagram and Facebook, and by following this blog. We’ve got exciting plans for our humble forum over the winter; we’ll be bringing you recipes for both home cooking and crafting, gardening tips and advice, stories about the farm and its community, and, of course, news about our upcoming 2024 season.

For all that and more, follow Hitchin Lavender online throughout the winter!
