By Amongst all the paper chains and tinsel, home and homeliness are at the centre of Christmas. Every year our favourite music artists sing about festive family time before a roaring fire, wrapping paper hastily torn apart on the living room carpet, or the wish for a loved one to return home for Christmas day.
Although most of our festive decorations are made in preparation for the holiday season, year-round homeware also represents an excellent gifting option at Christmas time. Helping your loved ones improve their home lives is thoughtful and generous, but needn’t be a hassle!
In this week’s blog post, we’ll explore some of the ways you can provide your loved ones with the pleasures of domestic bliss this Christmas. We’re proud that many of the items in our homeware range are produced by us, or by artists and artisans local to the Hitchin area.
Fragrance and Relaxation
After the hustle and bustle of Christmas, there are few better ways to relax than with the calming effects of lavender-infused aromas.
Perfect for introducing a floral flavour to any festive atmosphere, our room sprays, reed diffusers, and candles all employ the aromatic and remedial properties of pure lavender essential oil. Make these gifts the latest home fragrance option for someone special, and give them the guarantee of a soothed mind and body!
Alternatively, for gifts that match sweet scents with an attractive appearance, check out our embroidered lavender bags and eye pillows, both pictured below. These items are handmade by us and use lavender flowers that we harvest and dry here on the farm. Their natural aroma lasts for up to several years, and can be used to improve sleep quality or to freshen up linen. Many people, for example, like to add a lavender bag to their clothes drawers!

Decorations and Accessories
At Hitchin Lavender, we can appreciate the splendour of a stunning floral display. Our field is known for its spectacular purple rows, but there’s a number of ways to light up your home with splashes of countryside colour.
The pastime of drying flowers has become more and more popular in recent years, allowing hobbyists to bring the delights of the outdoors into their homes. Many of our visitors like to dry out the lavender they pick from our field, but if you haven’t had the chance to try this out, dried lavender bunches made by us are also available online – these make for an attractive and fragrant display when hung up in rows. For more of a standalone piece, try our dried seasonal bouquet, or for beautiful decorations that will stand the test of time, our range of silk flowers!
For the artistically minded people on your Christmas list, we also have an excellent range of accessories decorated with images from nature. Our gorgeous lavender hare tea towel was designed by past employee Oscar, and we are delighted to stock Hitchin Lavender-inspired prints by local artist Velvet Cooper, both pictured below!
A popular and long-standing product in our range is also our lavender vase, designed and made by locally based ceramicist Alice Sparkes, the brains (and hands!) behind Little Shop of Pots. There are just a few of these beautiful pieces left in stock!
