We are on the brink of full bloom here at Hitchin Lavender!

If you want to see our lavender looking at its absolute best, it’s a good idea to visit in the next couple of weeks. If you want to see lavender and sunflowers at the same time, the beginning of August will probably be your time to visit.

Without further ado, let’s check out how everything’s looking this week!

How is the lavender looking?

The early-flowering angustifolias are still looking great. We would expect these to continue blooming fully for the next couple of weeks before beginning to fade around the end of July.

Just as the angustifolias go past their peak flowering season, the intermedia varieties will be there to take up the slack. These are currently on the cusp of flowering, and should bloom within the next week or so.

How are the wildflowers and sunflowers looking?

The wildflower areas continue to make for some dramatic photos, although the flowers in them will fluctuate between now and the end of the season. Even as different plants fade in and out, these continue to provide wonderful habitats for a range of wildlife!

As you can see below, the heads are starting to form on our sunflowers. They’re on track for their expected flowering period in August. As ever, if you check this blog and our social media posts, you’ll be the first to know when they come out.
