In three weeks’ time, we’ll be open and our summer events calendar will truly have begun in earnest! We’re incredibly excited to be hosting some new acts in the lavender barn, whilst also welcoming back some of our firm favourites. Whether you’d prefer a night to relive the glory of the 70s, an evening celebrating traditional English fun, food, and dance or a classic car meet, we’ve got you covered!
Let’s take a look at our upcoming events in a bit more detail…
ABBA Revival – 1st June
This year, we welcome ABBA Revival, three-time winners of the National Tribute Awards, to the farm for the first time! It’s plain and it’s simple: ABBA created something truly timeless during their heyday in the 70s. We don’t think anyone can deny that an ABBA song gets you in the dancing mood right from the first few notes. ABBA Revival recreate that feeling spectacularly, and we just can’t wait to join them in the barn at the start of June!
The band was established in 2006 by Lisa (Anni Frid), John (Benny), Nina (Agnetha) and Marcus (Björn) and have been named the Official UK No. 1 ABBA Tribute act the last three years running! Lisa describes how “it’s not just a case of singing the songs. We have to become ABBA […] to summon up the energy to deliver a great performance”. Nina, otherwise known as Agnetha on stage, is a true self-proclaimed ABBA fan. For her, performing in this tribute band it is literally a dream come true. “I have been listening to ABBA for as long as I can remember and used to act out dance routines and songs with my friends. […] We love what we do and hope that it shows. We get such a kick when the audience is singing and dancing along!”

Ickledub – 2nd June
This brilliant classic car meet returns for its second outing at Hitchin Lavender. It’s a great day out for the whole family and the event takes place right in front of our lovely lavender rows. While the lavender might not quite be out in early June, the atmosphere and the setting will make this an event to remember. We’re talking classic cars and bikes, street food, fully-licenced bar, bouncy castle, live music, face painting and plenty more.
And the best thing is, it’s all to raise money for Team Super Seraph. Hitchin and the surrounding area are doing a great job raising money for Seraph but they need to keep pushing to achieve their goal! We want to get right behind their cause and ensure that Seraph gets the treatment he needs, so let’s keep pushing! To learn more about Seraph’s story, see the Team Super Seraph Website. You can donate to Seraph’s cause here.
Location: Hitchin Lavender Main Field | Time: 12:00pm
Pig, Swig and Jig! – 8th June
Leading the festivities in our annual English barn dance and hog roast will be the fantastic Brookfield Band! Operating in and around Hertfordshire, this selection of talented musicians have brought plenty of rhythm and swing into the barn every year we’ve had them. The best thing is, you don’t even need to be close to a good dancer to have a whale of a time; the band bring along a fine and raucous caller to tell you just what you need to do! Make sure you wear comfy clothes and some good, sturdy shoes!

We’ll also have a delicious, slow-cooked, spit-roasted pig for your consumption and vegetarian and vegan options too! The food is included in the price of the ticket!
The food’s going to be great, the music’s going to get your feet twitching and legs moving, what more can we say?
Location: Hitchin Lavender Barn | Time: 7:30pm

Sundown Cinema
Later on in the summer, our lovely friends Sundown Cinema will be returning to put on some fantastic films next to the field. This year, the selection of movies mixes timeless classics with modern hits:
Five films will be shown over a week in August:

And five more will be showing in September:

All the films are shown outdoors and begin when the sun goes down (usually between 8:30-9pm)! It’s always a great experience but make sure to bring something comfortable to sit on and plenty of warm garments and blankets. Street food and a licensed bar will be available on site!
More information can be found and bookings can be made on the Sundown Cinema website!
We look forward to welcoming many of you to the farm as part of our events calendar. If you have any burning questions left unanswered, do send us a message!
