Come and Share Our Purple Paradise

What’s on at Hitchin Lavender for families this summer

We appreciate that we’re more than a little biased when it comes to our farm but it really is looking beautiful at the moment so if you have any gaps left to fill in your summer holiday plans, please come and share it with us.

Heatwave brings out LAVENDERWe have rows and rows of lavender to explore which provide the ideal opportunity for anyone to stretch their legs as well as their imaginations. If you fancy diverting your children with an outdoor activity, you can let them loose in our lavender field and let them come up with their own entertainment (within reason!)

It’s a unique setting where children will be able to discover a natural environment, packed with flowers and wildlife. To help them find their way around the farm, we’ve created an activity booklet which contains all kinds of challenges from spotting different types of lavender to drawing our field to seeking out clues about other things that can be found on the farm. You can pick up a copy for free at the entrance box to the main field.

As well as walking through the lavender rows, everyone entering the field is allowed to pick their own fresh flowers to take home. You can collect one of our bags at the entrance and you can borrow some scissors if you need to, although we’d encourage you to bring your own if you can. We’re expecting some sunflowers later in the summer and you’ll be able to pick these too once they show their smiling faces!

One of our most popular attractions with our younger visitors is our play fortress, which we find children are pretty keen to investigate. They’re also unfailingly enthusiastic about taking a turn to drive our purple mini model tractor!

We hope you’ll feel Hitchin Lavender is one to tick off your summer holiday bucket (and spade) list! You’ll definitely be able to take some gorgeous family pics!
